Chris Hemsworth was conceived in Melbourne, Australia, to Leonie (van Os), an educator of English, and Craig Hemsworth, a social-administrations advocate. His siblings are actors Liam Hemsworth and Luke Hemsworth. He is of Dutch (from his settler maternal granddad), Irish, English, Scottish, and German parentage. His uncle, by marriage, was Rod Ansell, the bushman who roused the film Krokodil Dundee (1986).
